The sanctity of the Pagoda
The temple is one of the many Peace Pagodas around the world. After the Second World War, Buddhist monks from Japan started a campaign to build Peace Pagodas around the world. This pagoda is one of the two World Peace Pagodas in Nepal, the other being located in Lumbini. These holy temples represent peace without discrimination.
World Peace Pagoda Pokhara is situated atop a hill right above the famous Phewa Lake. The temple offers a great place to see the sunset over Pokhara and beautiful views of Annapurna and Fishtail. You’ll be enchanted by the stunning 360-degree view of the Pokhara Valley, Himalayan Mountains and the Phewa Lake. It can be accessed by hiring a boat and rowing across the Lake and climbing for about 90 minutes, or by trekking from the road that passes Davi’s Falls. Depending upon your choice, the hike to the World Peace Pagoda can be completed in half a day to a full day. We organize a single day hiking trip to our clients anytime throughout the year. Furthermore, we offer a hiking trip at a very affordable price that cannot be beaten.
We begin our trip from Damside. First, we cross a hanging bridge that takes us to the bottom of the hill. Once reaching the foot of the mountain, we begin our hiking. The trail goes through a dense forest that is full of diverse vegetation. This trail is the least travelled route, so it is the most undisturbed. You will be able to get glimpses of wildlife among the lush greenery.
The hike to the World Peace Pagoda from the bottom will last for about two hours before we reach the top. Once we arrive at the top, we are greeted with the bird’s-eye view of the entire valley along with the Lake. In clear weather, we can get stunning views of Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, and Dhaulagiri. The Shanti stupa Pokhara itself is quite marvellous as well. The World Peace Pagoda Pokhara, which was constructed by the Japanese, is a symbol of peace and wisdom.
After a couple of hours of staying and having lunch, we hike down the hill. However, this time, we take a different route. Hence, we’ll get to see different scenery while returning. Moreover, we will cross the Lake by boat after we reach the bottom of the hill. Boating on the Phewa Lake is a calming experience that is filled with magnificent views of the mountains. The boat ride itself is a short but a special one. After crossing the Lake, we then return to our hotels.
