The Australian camp Nepal hike is a single-day trip around Pokhara. It is one of the easiest treks that is accessible to all ages. It is the most popular short trek which boasts some fantastic sunset and sunrise views. Moreover, the magnificent views of the Himalayan Mountains and the gorgeous view of the Pokhara Valley add more beauty to the experience. Other attractive sceneries of this trek include the beautiful Australian Camp, the hill of Sarangkot and the quaint village of Dhampus. Interestingly, the Australian Camp was named so due to mispronunciation of the local people. The camp was, in fact, supposed to be Austrian Camp.
Australian Camp Nepal trek is a fairly smooth trek in the stunning foothills of the Annapurna. The trip gives appropriate views of the Annapurna Mountain range including Annapurna South (7219m), Annapurna III(7575m), Annapurna IV(7535m), Machhapuchhre (6993m) as well as Hiunchuli(6441m) and so on. The trek begins at Kande and ends at the Dhampus Phedi. The trek involves two hours of hiking uphill along with about one and half hours of walking on a straight track. In addition, we descend from the village of Dhampus for about 2 hours. However, if you want to enjoy the experience to the fullest, you can also spend a night in the Australian Camp. The sunrise from there is quite a sight to behold.
We begin our journey from Pokhara, as we take a 45 minutes’ drive to Kande. Then, we start our hike to the Australian Camp Nepal. We trail through the forest uphill for about two hours until we reach our destination. We’ll then relax and have lunch while enjoying the view. Then we hike towards the village of Dhampus. The duration of the hike is 1.5 hours with lush vegetation and beautiful scenery along the way. Also, the community of Dhampus itself is quite gorgeous, and the residents are simply wonderful. We then descend to Dhampus Phedi which takes us about 2 hours. There, we get on our private car back to Pokhara which takes about half an hour.
